Artistic Treasure, Enamel Watch
Watch, is not a simple time tool any more. It is an important adornment to express your social state and taste. The brand, the craftsmanship, and the design, nowhere is not to tell people who you are, especially to the celebrities. So, wearing a right watch to match you does not mean anything yet.
Well, what kind of watch is a right one? Some people think up a method once for ever- the luxury brand watch! Woo, it is a good idea. But if you do pay your a little attention about the watch, such as visiting some high museums, you will find enamel watch is their favorite. Not only the high museums, but also many celebrities collect the enamel watches, such as Einstein, Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Queen Victoria, M.Maria Sk?odowska-Curie.
About a century ago, in pocket watch times, enamel has been used in the watch face. Enamel is really a thin layer of glass fused by heat on to the surface of a metal. The word enamel comes from the High German word “smelzan” and later from the Old French “esmail”. The Collins English Dictionary defines enamel as “a colored glassy substance, transparent or opaque, fused to the surface of articles made of metal, glass etc. for ornament or protection”.
About 400 years ago, the pocket watch is just a plaything to aristocracy, particularly the enamel painting watch. In modern times, as the aristocracy’s decay, it is never hear of changing an estate for an enamel pocket watch. In the Great Exhibition of London, on August, 18, 1851, Queen Victoria chose a Patek Philippe enamel pocket watch, and had been it over 50 years. This enamel blue is similar with the color of Queen Victoria’s pupils.
Nowadays, the enamel watch is not only a watch, but also a work of art. Its artistic value is much higher than the intrinsic. Following articles will introduce some classic enamel watches for you.

How to super clean an old enamel bath to get off all the old grime or lime (like a white ingrained powder) and
get it shiny(it may be just the eanameal has worn off in places,i dont know, maybe just old tap residue.
I have a tub that is close to seventy years old. I can get it super clean with Comet cleanser in the spray bottle. I find that the Comet spray works better than the powder. According to the label it dissolves soap scum and hard water film. It still takes a lot of elbow grease even with the Comet cleanser because the enamel is worn in places also. I've never had any luck with CLR on anything that says it is a lime cleaner.
Where the enamel is worn off - you'll never get those places shiny. It does feel gritty in those places. Getting it re-glazed is a good option if you don't want to replace it. It depends on your house. For example, I live in a historic row house and people who have replaced their tubs have had to have them sawed in half just to get them out of the bathroom. So, re-glazing is better than replacing in that instance. Plus it is still the original tub which makes a difference to some people. Hope this helps a bit!
