Things to Think About Before You Adopt a Pug
As with any adoption of any breed of dog, if you want to adopt a pug, you must be willing to put in enough time and effort. There are many different places from where you can adopt a pug, but first lets look at what's involved in dog ownership.
Owning A Pug
Even though Pugs are small, they still need exercise so you have to commit to taking your pug for a walk every day. Luckily, Pugs don't need a ton of exercise like a larger dog would so a good 45 minute walk should do.
Like any other dog, Pugs need veterinary care. While this is neither costly or time consuming, you need to make the commitment to taking your pug for yearly checkups as well as any other medical necessities that your vet recommends. If your pug comes down with an illness, you must be prepared to pay for the proper veterinary care.
Finally, pugs do need grooming daily even though they have a short coat. They actually shed quite a bit so daily brushing will help cut down on shedding and keep their coat soft and silky. In addition to that, you need to inspect their ears for mites, clean out under the folds of skin on their face, keep their nails clipped and brush their teeth.
Where To Adopt A Pug
One of the easiest ways you can start adopting a pug is by searching online. Pug rescue centers usually have their own websites which lists pugs that are in need of foster home. On these sites, you will also find detailed information about the pugs that are currently looking for a new home. At these pug rescue centers, you will be able to adopt a dog that is either a full bred pug or a mix of something else with a pug (such as a puggle). Adopting one of these dogs will be a great deal of service as there are numbers of pugs that are held in these centers, waiting for a family to adopt them for their own. Unfortunately, because of the continuously increasing number of pugs being abandoned at these shelters, some of them have to be put to sleep. To avoid this, if you want to adopt a pug, then pug rescue centers should be the first place you should look.
Because there are also a number of these rescue centers all across the country, it will be much easier for you and it will save you the trouble of looking for a pug up for adoption in your city as well as the expense of adopting a dog from a breeder. Because most people want to adopt pug puppies, the number of adult pugs rises regularly. This is also one of the reasons why unfortunately, a number of these pugs need to be put to sleep.
Adopting a put is not something to be taken lightly. You need to commit to the expense and time it takes to care for a dog properly. Be sure you talk the decision over with your family and know everything that is involved in pet ownership before you make the decision to adopt a pug.

Anyone have tips for training a chinese pug puppy?
I just got a chinese pug puppy a week ago. She is now 8 weeks old. My house smells awful because shes been peeing in the house. I take her outside everyb 30mins or so and she sleeps in a cage but its just not enough. Any tips for this kind of dog? Oh ya and the potty training pads arent working for her..thanks!
One of the first signs that a puppy has to pee is that it will wander away from what it was previously doing and start sniffing the ground. This is your first sign to grab the puppy and put them on the paper or take them outside. When we got our 1st puppy our breeder had recommended taking our puppies outside just about hourly to get the puppy to be acquainted with where to go. Sometimes that is just not feasible. For the first two months or so limit where your puppy is allowed to be, gate areas and contain the puppy to an easier visible area so you can see where they are and when they start to wander or sniff the ground you are more able to grab them quick. Have those papers in one specific room or spot that she can get to easily. Puppies, when small, also tend to "circle" when they need to defecate.
When she does go potty, where you want her to, praise her, using a nice praising tone and give her a small treat when finished or pet her and tell her what a good dog she is. Pugs live for praise and treats! They are really, really special, wonderful little loves!:o) Hang in there, it does get better!
